Packaging Line Operator (Rotating Shifts)

You'll keep the line running at a snack food factory in Tembisa, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Tembisa, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day.

• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines

• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area

• Path to machine operator after six months
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Company transport on some night shifts
• Staff shop with discounted factory products

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
