Packhouse Quality Controller (Seasonal)

Fruit from a berry packing facility near Montague Gardens ends up on shelves overseas, packed by your hands. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a berry packing facility in Montague Gardens. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Keep your packing station clean and free of stems and leaves
• Move pallets into cold rooms and record temperatures
• Stick labels and batch codes on each carton
• Build pallets to the correct height and strap them
• Help clean the line and machines at the end of the day
• Follow food safety rules like hand washing and no jewellery
• Check fruit samples and record quality results on the QC sheet

• Available for the full packing season including Saturdays
• Follows hygiene rules at all times
• Basic counting and reading for labels
• Able to stand at a line for long shifts
• Valid ID or permit

• Knowledge of export standards like GLOBALG.A.P.
• Matric for QC posts
• Previous packhouse work

• Rehire for next season if you perform well
• Overtime pay during peak weeks
• Protective clothing supplied
