Packhouse Worker (Citrus Season)

Fruit from a berry packing facility near Polokwane ends up on shelves overseas, packed by your hands. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a berry packing facility in Polokwane. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Check fruit samples and record quality results on the QC sheet
• Build pallets to the correct height and strap them
• Stick labels and batch codes on each carton
• Move pallets into cold rooms and record temperatures
• Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line
• Follow food safety rules like hand washing and no jewellery

• Arrives on time for early shifts
• Available for the full packing season including Saturdays
• Follows hygiene rules at all times
• Quick and neat with your hands
• Able to stand at a line for long shifts
• Valid ID or permit

• Matric for QC posts
• Previous packhouse work

• Protective clothing supplied
• Overtime pay during peak weeks
• Rehire for next season if you perform well
