Job Description

Straight panels, perfect colour match: that is the job at this fleet repair centre in Germiston. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is in Germiston (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Cut and polish to remove dust marks and orange peel
Fit new panels using spot welding and bonding methods
Mask up vehicles properly to keep overspray off glass and trim
Mix paint colours with a spectrophotometer and the mixing scheme
Strip damaged panels, bumpers and trims and bag the fixings
Apply filler, sand and prime to a smooth, ready surface
Pull and straighten chassis damage on a measuring jig

What you need

Good colour vision and a steady hand
Panel beating or spray painting trade test, or at least 4 years of proven work
A portfolio or references from previous body shops
Knowledge of spray booth safety and respirator use
Experience with modern waterborne or high-solids paint systems
