Job Description

Straight panels, perfect colour match: that is the job at this truck body repair workshop in Tzaneen. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

  • Strip damaged panels, bumpers and trims and bag the fixings
  • Apply filler, sand and prime to a smooth, ready surface
  • Pull and straighten chassis damage on a measuring jig
  • Spray base coat and 2K clear coat in the booth
  • Cut and polish to remove dust marks and orange peel
  • Photograph repair stages for the insurance assessor

What you need

  • Panel beating or spray painting trade test, or at least 4 years of proven work
  • Physically able to stand, bend and kneel for long periods
  • Experience with modern waterborne or high-solids paint systems
  • A portfolio or references from previous body shops
  • Good colour vision and a steady hand
  • Knowledge of spray booth safety and respirator use

Extra points for

  • Experience as a workshop controller in a body shop
  • Aluminium and high-strength steel repair training

What you get

  • Full respirator and spray suit supplied
  • Productivity bonus per completed job
  • Paint supplier training courses

Applying, step by step

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Tzaneen really suit you before you apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: ID copy certified at a police station, before-and-after photos of your repairs plus trade certificate or references.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 9 working days, usually by phone.

How to stand out

  • Say which paint systems you have used, like waterborne base coat with a 2K clear. Body shops care about this.
  • Before-and-after photos are your best proof. Keep them on your phone, ready to show at the interview.
