Job Description

Got an eye for a smooth finish? The dealership body shop in Gqeberha wants your skills in the booth or on the jig. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The work is in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What your day looks like

  • Photograph repair stages for the insurance assessor
  • Mask up vehicles properly to keep overspray off glass and trim
  • Mix paint colours with a spectrophotometer and the mixing scheme
  • Apply filler, sand and prime to a smooth, ready surface
  • Spray base coat and 2K clear coat in the booth
  • Repair dents with hammers, dollies and a stud welder
  • Pull and straighten chassis damage on a measuring jig

Must-haves

  • Physically able to stand, bend and kneel for long periods
  • Able to work to insurer repair times and quality standards
  • Panel beating or spray painting trade test, or at least 4 years of proven work
  • Good colour vision and a steady hand

On offer

  • Paint supplier training courses
  • Full respirator and spray suit supplied
  • Productivity bonus per completed job

Applying, step by step

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Gqeberha really suit you before you apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: trade certificate or references plus ID copy certified at a police station.
  3. Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 7 working days, usually by phone.

How to stand out

  • Say which paint systems you have used, like waterborne base coat with a 2K clear. Body shops care about this.
  • Expect a practical test panel. Arrive early so you can see the booth and equipment first.
