Paving Layer (Interlocking Pavers)

The residential renovation company in Vanderbijlpark needs skilled hands and helpers who know the basics of the building trade. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Vanderbijlpark. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings
• Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear

• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Punctual every morning, even in winter

• Experience on NHBRC-registered housing projects
• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade
• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering

• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest

• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
