Paving Layer (Interlocking Pavers)

Put your trade to work on the school construction project in Vereeniging, with steady work for the length of the project. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a school construction project in Vereeniging. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off

• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside

• Trade test in bricklaying, carpentry or plastering
• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter

• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• Transport from a pick-up point to site
• Chance to move up to a gang leader post

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
