Paving Team Labourer

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a road rehabilitation project in Brackenfell can keep building. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is in Brackenfell (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Clear rubble and load it into skips

• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Grade 8 or higher
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30

• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site

• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
