Payroll and Benefits Manager

Payday is sacred, and at this payroll bureau in Welkom you'll make sure it lands right. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Welkom-based, with most of your time spent at a payroll bureau. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Import clock-card data and check overtime against the BCEA limits.
• Reconcile medical aid, pension and provident fund schedules.
• Run the payroll, check variances and get sign-off before cut-off.
• Keep payroll files and banking details secure under POPIA.
• Answer staff payslip queries clearly and in private.

• Strong Excel, especially VLOOKUP and pivot tables
• Hands-on Sage 300 People, VIP, PaySpace or SimplePay
• Matric plus a payroll, bookkeeping or HR qualification
• Sound knowledge of PAYE, UIF, SDL and the BCEA
• At least 2 years running a full payroll end to end
• Trusted with confidential salary data

• SAPA (South African Payroll Association) membership or certification
• ETI claim experience

• Study assistance for payroll certification
• 13th cheque
• Hybrid work outside month-end week

• Be ready for a practical test calculating PAYE and overtime; take a calculator you know well.
• Put headcount, pay frequencies and software at the top of your CV (for example "900 staff, weekly and monthly, VIP").
