Pest Control and Hygiene Assistant

You'll do the heavy cleaning at a poultry processing plant in Gqeberha, the kind that needs machines, chemicals and training. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a poultry processing plant in Gqeberha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Test sanitiser strength with test strips and record the reading
• Clear builders' dust, paint and cement off floors and windows after construction
• Run a high-pressure washer on grease, oil and slurry build-up
• Shampoo carpets and upholstery with an extraction machine
• Lock out machines before cleaning, as the safety file requires

• Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets
• Able to pass a medical fitness check for plant work
• Physically strong for wet, heavy work
• Not scared of heights for window or rope crews

• Experience using a high-pressure washer or carpet extractor
• Chemical safety or HACCP hygiene training

• Higher hourly rate than standard cleaning
• Paid training on machines and chemicals
• Night-shift and standby allowances
• Full PPE: waterproof suits, boots, goggles and respirators

• Say you are available for night and shutdown work. That is when most factory hygiene cleaning happens.
• If you hold a heights or rope access ticket, attach it. It can double what you earn in this line of work.
