Job Description

Tough, messy cleaning at a commercial kitchen in Pietermaritzburg, paid better than ordinary cleaning. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a commercial kitchen on the Pietermaritzburg side of KwaZulu-Natal. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Clean drains and grease traps in commercial kitchens
Run a high-pressure washer on grease, oil and slurry build-up
Foam, scrub and rinse walls, floors and conveyors with approved chemicals
Strip down and wash production equipment after the last run
Test sanitiser strength with test strips and record the reading

What you need

Reliable, as crews are small and each person counts
Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets
Respect for chemical safety and PPE
Physically strong for wet, heavy work

Extra points for

Experience using a high-pressure washer or carpet extractor
Working-at-heights or IRATA rope access ticket
