Job Description

Accuracy is everything in this primary health care clinic dispensary in Harrismith; one checked label at a time. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Harrismith (Free State). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

The work, day to day

Explain dosage, storage and side effects to patients in plain language
Receive stock, check expiry dates and pack shelves first-expiry-first-out
Capture scripts on the dispensing system and check them against medical aid rules
Record cold-chain fridge temperatures twice a day
Prepare monthly chronic packs for collection or courier delivery
Help customers choose over-the-counter and front-shop products

Must-haves

SAPC registration as a Pharmacist's Assistant (Basic or Post-Basic)
Understanding of medical aid claim codes and PMB chronic rules
Working knowledge of a dispensing system such as Unisolv, Proscript or Healthbridge-linked software
Matric with Maths or Maths Literacy
Friendly and clear at a busy counter

Nice if you have

Wound care or family planning counselling short course
Experience with stock ordering through a wholesaler portal
