Planter Operator (Maize)

Planting to harvest, a mixed crop farm near Tzaneen runs on good tractor drivers. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a mixed crop farm in Tzaneen. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes
• Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
• Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed
• Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
• Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
• Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed

• At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
• Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
• Available to live on or near the farm
• Reliable and sober on duty
• Can read job cards and spray instructions

• Basic mechanical skills
• Combine harvester experience
• Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer

• Training on new machinery
• Harvest bonus at season end
• Overtime paid during planting and harvest
• Farm housing with water and electricity

• List the machines you can drive and the implements you have used. Farmers want to know if you can plant, spray or harvest on day one.
