Job Description

Little ones at a community creche in Midrand learn through play, and you'll set up that play. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Location: Midrand, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

The work, day to day

Chat to parents at drop-off and pick-up about how the day went
Follow the NCF daily programme and adapt it for each age group
Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic
Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal
Feed, change and settle babies and toddlers on their routine
Set up daily learning areas for art, blocks, reading and fantasy play
Clean and sanitise toys, mats and tables at the end of the day

What you need

ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one
Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
Matric
Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
Warm, patient and energetic with small children

Helpful, not essential

Basic music, art or movement skills for group activities
Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach
