Job Description

Plumbing work that keeps Durban Central homes and buildings running: this insurance repair contractor needs a trade-tested plumber. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is an insurance repair contractor on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal.

The work, day to day

Install and repair soil and waste pipes to SANS 10400 Part P
Install copper, PEX and PVC piping for new bathrooms and kitchens
Take photos and complete the insurer's claim report after each geyser job
Replace burst geysers and fit vacuum breakers, drip trays and pressure control valves to SANS 10254
Issue plumbing Certificates of Compliance for completed installations
Work on the emergency call-out roster for after-hours bursts

You'll need

PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
At least 3 years as a qualified plumber, including geyser replacements
Code 08 licence and a clean driving record
Fit enough to lift a 150-litre geyser with a helper and work in tight roof spaces
Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)

Helpful, not essential

SAQCC Gas registration for LPG installations
Heat pump and solar geyser installation experience
Experience with insurance repair work and claim paperwork
