Plumber's Helper (Residential)

Every wall and slab on this road rehabilitation project in Fourways needs labourers, and the crew needs one more. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at a road rehabilitation project. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches

• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE

• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant

• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
