Job Description

Every wall and slab on this school building project in Umlazi needs labourers, and the crew needs one more. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a school building project on the Umlazi side of KwaZulu-Natal.

The work, day to day

Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer
Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed

Must-haves

You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
Prepared to travel between sites in the area
Grade 8 or higher

Extra points for

Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
