Job Description

Plumbing work that keeps Cape Town CBD homes and buildings running: this private hospital maintenance department needs a trade-tested plumber. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a private hospital maintenance department on the Cape Town CBD side of Western Cape. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

The work, day to day

Service booster pumps, pressure tanks and water storage tanks
Install copper, PEX and PVC piping for new bathrooms and kitchens
Order fittings from the supplier and keep the van stocked
Work on the emergency call-out roster for after-hours bursts
Issue plumbing Certificates of Compliance for completed installations
Replace burst geysers and fit vacuum breakers, drip trays and pressure control valves to SANS 10254

You'll need

Code 08 licence and a clean driving record
Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs
Working knowledge of SANS 10252-1 and SANS 10254
Fit enough to lift a 150-litre geyser with a helper and work in tight roof spaces
PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)

Extra points for

Experience with insurance repair work and claim paperwork
SAQCC Gas registration for LPG installations
Heat pump and solar geyser installation experience
