Job Description

Know your way around SANS 10254 and a geyser drip tray? The insurance repair contractor in Midrand wants to hear from you. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at an insurance repair contractor in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Fit toilets, basins, showers and mixers to the client's chosen finishes
Issue plumbing Certificates of Compliance for completed installations
Service booster pumps, pressure tanks and water storage tanks
Trace hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture readings
Install and repair soil and waste pipes to SANS 10400 Part P
Take photos and complete the insurer's claim report after each geyser job
Work on the emergency call-out roster for after-hours bursts

What you need

Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)
Fit enough to lift a 150-litre geyser with a helper and work in tight roof spaces
PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
Working knowledge of SANS 10252-1 and SANS 10254
