Plumbing Artisan (Hospital Maintenance)

Plumbing work that keeps Somerset West homes and buildings running: this commercial building contractor needs a trade-tested plumber. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a commercial building contractor in Somerset West. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Service booster pumps, pressure tanks and water storage tanks
• Trace hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture readings
• Work on the emergency call-out roster for after-hours bursts
• Take photos and complete the insurer's claim report after each geyser job
• Install copper, PEX and PVC piping for new bathrooms and kitchens

• Fit enough to lift a 150-litre geyser with a helper and work in tight roof spaces
• PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
• Working knowledge of SANS 10252-1 and SANS 10254
• Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)
• At least 3 years as a qualified plumber, including geyser replacements
• Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs

• Experience with insurance repair work and claim paperwork
• Heat pump and solar geyser installation experience

• Cellphone allowance for job updates and photos
• Paid PIRB renewal fee
• Protective clothing and safety boots replaced yearly
• Fully stocked service van with a fuel card
