Poultry Farm Worker (Broiler Houses) – Experienced

You'll feed, milk and care for animals on a dairy farm near Durban Central, every day of the year. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Durban Central-based, with most of your time spent at a dairy farm. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Help the vet with vaccinations and treatments
• Milk cows in the parlour following the milking routine
• Feed animals the right ration at the right time
• Record births, deaths and treatments in the herd book
• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Check animals for illness or injury and report to the manager

• Reliable, since animals depend on you
• Comfortable around large animals
• Able to live on the farm or close by
• South African ID or a legal work permit

• Basic farm maintenance skills
• Supervisory experience for foreman roles
• Animal health or AgriSETA short course

• Training in animal health
• Farm housing on site
• Milk or meat rations
• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets

• Say which animals you have worked with and for how long. Farmers want someone who already knows the routine.
• Stress reliability. Explain that you understand milking or feeding cannot be skipped.
