Pre-School Teacher (4 to 5 Year Olds)

Little ones at a Montessori pre-school in Bethlehem learn through play, and you'll set up that play. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The work is in Bethlehem, Free State, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal
• Help aftercare learners with homework and reading
• Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe
• Follow the NCF daily programme and adapt it for each age group
• Set up daily learning areas for art, blocks, reading and fantasy play

• Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
• ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one
• Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
• Paediatric first aid certificate
• Matric
• Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance

• Speak more than one home language of the children you'll teach
• Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
• Basic music, art or movement skills for group activities

• Short holiday closures over December and Easter
• Sponsored ECD Level 5 studies
• Reduced fees for your own child
• Lunch provided on school days

• Add one sentence about an activity you ran that the children loved; it shows you can plan, not just supervise.
• Put your ECD level and first aid certificate in the first lines of your CV; creches check these before anything else.
