Job Description

Patients in this private hospital surgical ward in Sandton count on your clinical judgement every single shift. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a private hospital surgical ward on the Sandton side of Gauteng.

What you'll actually do

Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day
Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
Keep clinical notes clear, timed and signed for audits and legal records

What you need

At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
Clean criminal record
Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly

Helpful, not essential

IMCI and NIMART training for primary health care work
Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts
