Job Description

Patients in this mine health centre in eMalahleni count on your clinical judgement every single shift. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a mine health centre in eMalahleni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

  • Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
  • Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day
  • Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
  • Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
  • Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
  • Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
  • Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders

What you need

  • Clean criminal record
  • Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts
  • At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
  • Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route

Helpful, not essential

  • Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
  • Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts
  • Unit manager or shift leader experience

On offer

  • Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
  • Paid SANC annual fees at some groups
  • Study support for post-basic specialities

How to apply for this job

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Keep copies of these ready to send: current BLS or ACLS card, certified copy of your SANC registration and current annual practising certificate plus contact details for a ward or unit manager who supervised you.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

How2Apply recruits for this position on behalf of hiring employers around eMalahleni; applications go into our talent pool and shortlisted candidates are introduced directly.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • List your speciality skills in plain words, such as "ventilated patients" or "normal deliveries", instead of just the ward name.
  • Check your SANC receipt is for this year before you apply; an unpaid annual fee gets your application parked.
