Professional Nurse (Medical Ward)

This is a registered nursing post at a community day clinic in Brakpan, with your own patient load and a say in the care plan. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Location: Brakpan, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day
• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
• Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery

• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid
• Clean criminal record
• Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly

• Experience with electronic patient records or bedside charting systems
• Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
• Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts

• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
