Professional Nurse (Theatre)

Patients in this community day clinic in East London count on your clinical judgement every single shift. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a community day clinic on the East London side of Eastern Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day
• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients
• Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls

• Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Clean criminal record

• Check your SANC receipt is for this year before you apply; an unpaid annual fee gets your application parked.
