Professional Nurse (Theatre)

This is a registered nursing post at a step-down and sub-acute facility in Mokopane, with your own patient load and a say in the care plan. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Home base is a step-down and sub-acute facility on the Mokopane side of Limpopo. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients
• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day
• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol

• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly

• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups
• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay

• For night-duty posts, say clearly in your cover note that you want permanent nights, as many applicants only want days.
• Check your SANC receipt is for this year before you apply; an unpaid annual fee gets your application parked.
