Professional Nurse (Theatre)

You'll run patient care on a busy shift at a mine health centre in Richards Bay, from admission to discharge. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a mine health centre on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders
• Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day
• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients

• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid
• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly

• Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts
• Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
• Experience with electronic patient records or bedside charting systems

• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
