Job Description

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The manufacturing plant in Benoni needs you to make it so. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Benoni-based, with most of your time spent at a manufacturing plant.

The work, day to day

Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

You'll need

Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
