Job Description

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the water treatment utility in Somerset West. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Somerset West, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

The work, day to day

Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2

What you need

At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
