Job Description

Timber keeps rural towns working, and a pine plantation near Burgersfort is hiring crews. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The work is in Burgersfort, Limpopo, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

The work, day to day

Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw

What you need

Valid ID
Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Willing to work in remote areas
