Job Description

Housekeeping keeps a bush lodge in Pietermaritzburg running quietly in the background. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Pietermaritzburg-based, with most of your time spent at a bush lodge.

The work, day to day

Hand in lost property with a written log entry.
Report broken fittings, leaks and damage to maintenance.
Clean bathrooms, showers and toilets with the correct colour-coded cloths.
Strip beds, make them up with fresh linen and square the corners.
Do evening turndowns with chocolates and curtain closing.

Must-haves

Fit enough to lift mattresses and push trolleys all day
You can finish around 14 rooms in a shift
Honest and trustworthy around guest belongings
Weekend and public holiday work

Helpful, not essential

A supervisor course or time spent running a floor
Basic first aid certificate
Chemical handling training
