Public Area Cleaner (Hotel) – Fixed-Term

Guests at a game lodge in Kuruman will never meet you, but they will judge the stay by your work. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a game lodge in Kuruman. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift

• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Grade 10 or matric
• Well groomed
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor

• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
