Public Area Cleaner (Hotel)

You'll turn rooms around at a conference hotel in Mamelodi so every guest walks into a room that feels new. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a conference hotel on the Mamelodi side of Gauteng. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day

• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Honest, since you work in guests' rooms alone
• Well groomed

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
