Public Area Cleaner (Hotel)

You'll turn rooms around at a boutique guesthouse in Rosslyn so every guest walks into a room that feels new. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a boutique guesthouse on the Rosslyn side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift

• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Grade 10 or matric
• Well groomed

• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience

• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Share of the service charge or guest tips

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
