Qualified Electrician (Residential Installations)

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the facilities management company in George. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in George; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester

• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence

• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
• Working at Heights certificate still in date

• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
• Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
