Qualified Electrician (Residential Installations)

This is hands-on electrical work in Pinetown: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Pinetown; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
• Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows

• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence

• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

• Many applicants forget to attach the trade test certificate itself. Recruiters often skip CVs that only mention it.
• If you have issued CoCs before, say how many and for what type of property.
