Quality Sorter (Packaging Factory)

You'll keep the line running at a meat processing plant in Johannesburg CBD, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Johannesburg CBD, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card

• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage

• Company transport on some night shifts
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
