Quantity Surveyor (Building Contractor)

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the property development company in Durban Central. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The site is in Durban Central; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions

• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work

• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• Honours degree in Quantity Surveying
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
