Quantity Surveyor (Building Contractor)

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the quantity surveying practice in Isando. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a quantity surveying practice on the Isando side of Gauteng. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early

• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables

• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Travel allowance for site visits
• Study support for an honours degree

• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
