Quantity Surveyor (Building Contractor)

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Umhlanga. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The work is in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules

• Code 08 licence for site visits
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify

• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel
