Job Description

Make sure every rand on site is counted, claimed and certified for the main building contractor in Umlazi. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Location: Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What your day looks like

Prepare the final account at the end of the project
Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line

You'll need

BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
Code 08 licence for site visits
At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor

Extra points for

Estimating software experience on top of Excel
SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
