Quantity Surveyor (Building Contractor)

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Welkom. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a quantity surveying practice on the Welkom side of Free State.

• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line

• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify

• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS

• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Travel allowance for site visits

• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
