Job Description

A tutoring centre in Brakpan needs a patient tutor who can turn a failing mark into a pass. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is Brakpan-based, with most of your time spent at a tutoring centre. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

What your day looks like

Assess a new learner's level with a short diagnostic test
Teach one-on-one or in small groups of up to six
Prepare learners for control tests with short timed practice drills
Work through past exam papers and marking memos with learners
Run live video lessons with a headset, whiteboard app and stable connection

What you need

Own transport for home tutoring posts
Distinction or strong pass in the subject you'll tutor
Reliable internet and a quiet place to teach for online posts
Currently studying at university, or holding a degree or diploma
Police clearance for work with minors
Clear, patient way of explaining ideas

Nice if you have

TEFL or TESOL certificate for English tutoring
Remedial or learning support training
Second language for learners who study in Afrikaans or isiZulu

What you get

Flexible hours you choose each week
Free training on the tutoring platform
Hourly rate that rises with your ratings and results
Work from home on online posts

Applying, step by step

Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): academic transcript showing your subject marks plus police clearance for tutoring children.
Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 7 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Brakpan.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

List exactly which afternoons you're free, because timetable fit decides most tutoring bookings.
Lead with your own mark in the subject, such as "Maths 89% (NSC)"; tutoring agencies filter by marks.
