Reception Security Officer (Office Tower) – Permanent

The gate at an industrial park in Durban Central is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is an industrial park on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal.

• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors

• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Speaks and writes basic English

• Firefighting or evacuation training
• Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers
• First-aid Level 1 certificate

• Stable long-term site contracts
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Provident fund contributions
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
