Reception Security Officer (Office Tower) – Permanent

The gate at a gated residential estate in Soweto is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Soweto-based, with most of your time spent at a gated residential estate.

• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards

• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Clean criminal record
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred

• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Provident fund contributions

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
