Refrigeration Technician (Commercial Cold Rooms)

The residential aircon installer in Bloemfontein needs an HVAC technician who knows both the electrical side and the refrigerant side. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a residential aircon installer in Bloemfontein. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Replace thermostatic expansion valves and electronic controllers
• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits
• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them

• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate

• Experience with VRF systems or chillers
• CO2 transcritical refrigeration experience in retail stores
• Transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers

• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you

• Mention whether you are comfortable on standby. Most service jobs in this trade include it.
• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
