Refrigeration Technician (Commercial Cold Rooms) – Immediate Start

You'll install, service and repair refrigeration and aircon systems across Secunda. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Secunda-based, with most of your time spent at a cold chain logistics company. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Commission new systems and show the client how to use the controls
• Check chiller log sheets and water treatment on building service visits

• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
• SAQCC Gas registration as an authorised person for refrigerants
• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate

• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack
• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges

• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
• Mention whether you are comfortable on standby. Most service jobs in this trade include it.
