Registered Nurse (Emergency Unit)

This is a registered nursing post at a private hospital surgical ward in Midrand, with your own patient load and a say in the care plan. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a private hospital surgical ward in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Keep clinical notes clear, timed and signed for audits and legal records
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register

• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Clean criminal record

• Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts
• Unit manager or shift leader experience
• IMCI and NIMART training for primary health care work

• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups

• For night-duty posts, say clearly in your cover note that you want permanent nights, as many applicants only want days.
